Durrell (The Wildlife Preservation Trust) |
Founded in 1959 by the world famous author and conservationist Gerald Durrell, Jersey Zoo is now one of the Island's most famous attractions. Dedicated to preserving endangered species, the 30 acre park offers the opportunity to see some rare animals, birds and reptiles. Special talks, viewings and picnics can be arranged. |
| |
Visitors to Jersey Zoo should prepare themselves for an extraordinary experience. Open green spaces, free-living animals and the discovery of wildlife conservation at work inspired one visitor to describe it as "a zoo that makes you feel there is hope." Daily keeper talks, animal encounters, behind the scene tours and audio-visual presentations. There are at certain times, free guided tours and knowledgeable volunteers further enhance a trip to this dynamic and successful modern zoo.
